Bookkeeping exams end up in a container, students have to …

Seventeen students from Vives University of Applied Sciences in Kortrijk have taken the accounting exam twice. The first version had ended up in the container.

It’s a simple explanation for a dumb situation. This is what Frank Devos, communications manager at Vives University of Applied Sciences, says: ‘The bachelor’s students in accounting were given lessons and exams in a different building than where they follow their studies in normal times. They are namely renovating premises. The supervisor then put the exams in a locker. Those lockers were meant to be thrown away. So they ended up in a container. Couldn’t bring them back. ‘

The students were given a week of block time to retake their exams after the regular exam period. The university of applied sciences promised to take the special circumstances into account when assessing the exams.

One of the students of the graduate degree in Accounting Administration (Commercial Sciences and Business Administration) could not stand that a rooster was crowded and informed the media. He did wait until after September 3, the day of the second exam.

It has not yet been decided whether everyone has passed. The school itself, of course, doesn’t like the whole thing very much. Devos: ‘Not at all, but these are things that can happen.’
