Book: it’s the story of a guy and the end of the world …

With his feather sharpened to perfection, Laurent Roustan takes a personal look at the first confinement.

As André Valverde wrote so well, with originality, in the preface, “this is the story of a”… Type – a little rebellious and whose sharp pen is usually a musician – who reacts in a very personal way to the first confinement “ordered” by the government in March 2020. Journalist at Press Center, Laurent Roustan has experienced this period so traumatic for some in two ways: as close as possible to the information to be distilled on a daily basis but, also, within his private life, usually made up of contacts, exchanges and sharing in his home de Rodelle where musicians and other artists of all kinds always find an open door.

In his “Chronicle of the end of the world”, season 1 revolves around stupor. It’s brutal as an announcement, he says. Everyone is “stuck” by confinement which prohibits many freedoms. I find myself as an adventurer who can no longer go out and escape as he sees fit … In his story with ten chapters (some may have already forgotten it but the confinement lasted two and a half months), he insists on everything virtual and almost becomes a “conspirator” to follow, on the internet, of the so-called investigators whose occupation is to create a buzz. For me, the reason for this lockdown is not at all clear. Neither does this virus come out of nowhere. There is indeed a Franco-Chinese laboratory in Wuhan which is supposed to alert the authorities. I think that there was a serious fault and a certain laxity of this laboratory. Moreover, it would be good to fine it, 1 or 2 centimes for each French ! Humor quickly returns to find its place and it is chronic with Laurent Roustan. The screens, already very present in our lives, have been pushed to excess. Many have gone to the virtual aperitif. I was not able to cross this milestone. I preferred to have a friend come with his accordion and his… sander to do some work. ! He strikes one last blow, for the road: You advance masked and you have lost in humanity. We discovered teleworking (without camera and microphone, do not push either!) but it has its limits. “

After the stupor, season 2, already written, will be much “darker” since it tells the period from September 2020 to January 2021, between confinement (more difficult to live with) and curfew.

“Chronicle of the end of the world, season 1, stupeur” is available at the Maison du livre, in Rodez, at the cultural center of Leclerc, in Onet, at the Caumes des livres bookstore, in Millau, and on the site of the Territoires editions . Laurent Roustan will be signing, Saturday March 27, at Espace Kerala, rue Abbé-Bessou in Rodez, from 10:30 a.m.
