BOOK FAIR WILL OFFER MORE THAN 200 FREE ACTIVITIES

The program and poster for the 17th edition of the International Fair for the Promotion of Reading and Books were presented on Monday.

The activity took place at the San José Cultural Space with the presence of the General Director of Culture and Education of the Municipality, Pablo Pucheu, Gimena Rodríguez, in charge of the Departmental Library, Celeste Verges, Julio Persa and Leonardo Urrutia, members of the committee in charge of organizing the Fair and the plastic artist Alex Morales, who made the poster for this edition, based on the evolution of writing.

The event will take place from Tuesday 10th to Sunday 15th September in the city of San José de Mayo, under the motto “Page Zero: the beginning of infinity”, proposing an exchange on the beginning, present and future of the book.

This edition will offer more than 200 free activities in different spaces of the departmental capital, including exhibitions, book presentations, recreational activities, shows, workshops, tributes, discussions and media broadcasts.

The exhibition features international (from Argentina, Spain, France, Peru and Chile) and national proposals at 56 stands, as well as the participation of organisations such as UNESCO, the National Academy of Letters and universities.

New features of this edition include the “From the Present to the Infinite” cycle, which will address the role of bookstores and libraries, social networks, artificial intelligence and education, as well as the proposed Market of Cultural and Creative Industries of Uruguay.

The opening ceremony of the 17th edition will take place on Tuesday, September 10, at 6:00 p.m., at the Macció Theater.

During the fair, transfer services will be available via the Tourist Bus to facilitate participation from different points in the department.

Likewise, the extension 4342 9000 1700 is enabled so that educational institutions can schedule participation in children’s and youth activities.
