Bonus tv, we change: the race for the bonus of 100 euros will start shortly to change the old TV and buy a new one compatible with the new broadcasting standards of the new generation digital terrestrial. The transition will serve to guarantee space for a new service: 5G. Technically it is about moving to the unpronounceable DVBT-2 / HEVC standard which will come into service in 2022. It should guarantee, experts say, better quality, higher resolution and a new coding standard for video compression. Beyond the technical specifications, to obtain the bonus the Italians will have to be very fast: the amount allocated is in fact hardly enough to cover a quarter of the potential requests and the fund will be disbursable until the resources are exhausted, except for last-minute refinancing. .
TV bonus: the deadline is December 31, 2022
The rules of engagement for the race are known, we await the start while waiting for the Ministry of Economic Development and the Economy to publish the implementing measure of the rule contained in the Sostegni decree. Then a start date will be established, while the deadline is already known: December 31, 2022. But the resources for this transition to a smarter TV are scarce. The bill is quickly made: the ceiling of the measure is set at 250 million euros.
Valid for TVs purchased before 2018
If all 9 million owners of televisions purchased before 2018 (Auditel-Ipsos estimate) decided to ask for the discount, 900 million euros would be needed. With the current figure, one quarter of the potential applicants, 2.5 million citizens with old TV, is barely covered. That’s not all: to get the 100 euros (a very low figure considering that the cost of new devices starts at at least double) you will need to certify that you are an Italian citizen, have regularly paid the RAI fee (now in the bill) and have scrapped an old television. The passage of the scrapping will have two ways: either deliver it to the retailer who will grant the discount or take it to an authorized landfill that will issue a certificate to take to the retailer.
What does HEVC stand for?
For non-technical but TV owners to change who want to learn more, HEVC is the acronym for High Efficiency Video Coding, that is a high efficiency coding standard that supports videos with resolutions up to 8K. DVB T-2 allows the transmission capacity to be increased by 50% for the same band and was chosen to free up the 700Mhz band to deliver it to telephone operators for 5G.
Isee unlimited tv bonus
This type of incentive will not include the presentation of the ISEE. Basically, there will be no limits, other than being able to require only one per family. The ace of time of a year is little more than it was necessary to facilitate the transition. Previously, the TV bonus was granted only with the presentation of the ISEE: up to 20 thousand euros the “discount” would have been 50 euros (not up to 100 as the new implementing decree will provide).
How to claim the tv bonus
Previously, to obtain the benefit, it was sufficient to present a specific self-certification to the television retailer in which you declare that you meet the requirements (Isee roof under 20mile) to be able to purchase a decoder or a DVB-T2 TV of any size. . Now any forms or self-certifications have not yet been provided, waiting for the decree to become reality, but since it is not necessary to present the ISEE, the passage should be simpler, without prejudice to the constraint of being able to take advantage of only one bonus per household.
