Bonobos are more attentive to strangers than to friends

Unlike humans, bonobos are more interested in the emotions of strangers than acquaintances. Human participants in the study were actually more interested in the emotions of people they know. A remarkable difference, since bonobos, together with chimpanzees, are the most closely related ape species to humans.
