The Presidency commission of the Alicante Town Hall has unanimously agreed this Friday to request the Generalitat to transfer the Bonfire holidays planned for the June 22 and 24 to September 3 and 4, according to a statement from the consistory. In the first case, the Consell is requested to change the local holiday scheduled for June 22 to September 3 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the second, the Valencian Government is asked to modify the regional festival from June 24 to September 4.
The change of dates must be ratified in the ordinary plenary session next Thursday and “occurs to adapt the festivities to the anticipation of celebrating the Bonfires in the first week of September, a situation that is still conditioned by the evolution of the pandemic and subject to to guarantee in the first place the adequate sanitary protection of all the residents of the city of Alicante, “says the statement.
