Bonduelle minestrone withdrawn from supermarkets due to the presence of an allergen not declared on the label

The “Ricco on past” minestrone distributed by Bonduelle has been withdrawn from supermarkets following a call from the Ministry of Health.




Why the product has been recalled

Numerous batches of the Bonduelle minestrone (37) have been withdrawn from supermarkets due to the presence of allergen (celery) not declared on the label.




On the in fact, the warning is missing from the minestrone package mandatory by law: “Do not consume the product if you are allergic to celery”, as reported by the Ministry of Health.

The Coop was the one to raise the alarmwhich has forwarded the recall to all supermarkets throughout the country, and the Bonduelle manufacturer itself.




Product features

The withdrawn product is the “Minestrone rich with the past”, sold to the public in 750 gram bags with expiration dates between 09/2023 e 11/2024.

The manufacturer is Bonduelle Europe Long Life with stability in Chaussée de Brunehaut, Estrée-Monscommune in the Somme department (France).

EU Regulation no. 1169/2011, entered into force on 13 December 2014, hintroduced the obligation for producers and businesses to reportin foods, the presence of substances that can cause allergies or intolerances.

Annex II of the Regulation defines a list of 14 allergens to be indicated compulsorily: Cereals containing gluten; Shellfish; Egg; Fish; Peanuts; Soy; Milk; Nuts; Celery; Mustard; Sesame seeds; Sulfur dioxide and sulphites; Lupins; Clams.
