Updated just now
There has long been talk of the brokerage industry wanting to challenge Finn.no as a marketplace for buying and selling homes.
Now the solution is approaching, but the new company, Bomega, is keeping its cards close to its chest for the time being.
The chairman of Bomega is Grethe Meier, who is CEO of PrivatMegleren.
– We are coming up with a portal and are very much looking forward to doing it. We will soon provide more information about this, she tells E24.

For the time being, they will not go out with a name for what the portal will be called, says Meier.
The company’s managing director is Rune Paulseth, who was previously CEO of Facebook owner Meta in Norway. He will not comment on the matter at this time.

– Completely different technology
– Can you say anything more about when the launch will be?
– Relatively soon, says Meier.
– Something closer than that?
– Nothing more than that, she says.
– So the plan is for this portal to challenge Finn.no as a marketplace?
– This is a portal that we believe consumers and the industry deserve, says Meier.
– Can you say a little about the background for that?
– Completely different technology, but I don’t want to say anything more than that.

Hallgeir Kvadsheim: What do I do with an inheritance of 2.5 million?
– Wants to challenge a monopolist
– What is the reason why you want to challenge Finn.no?
– We’ll deal with that later. We will come back to why we want to do it, says Meier.
In 2022, Norway’s Estate Agents, the Consumer Council and Huseierne Finn.no complained to the Norwegian Competition Authority.
The pricing and the dominant position Finn.no has in the market have been criticized on several occasions. Among other things, the industry claimed against Today’s business in 2022 that advertisements became “several hundred million” more expensive.
– Have you been dissatisfied with Finn.no in the past?
– Yes, it is also somewhat in the cards that we want to challenge a monopolist.
Bomega is owned by several industry players who account for close to half of the turnover in the industry, Meier explains.
PrivatMegleren is the largest owner, while the brokerage chain Eie follows as the second largest owner.
The board of Bomega includes Stian Kløfta, general manager of brokerage firm Krogsveen, Martin Anmarkrud Kiligitto, general manager of Nordvik and Hedda Karoline Ulvness, general manager of Eie.
– I think it’s good
Jørgen Hellestveit, head of Finn Eiendom, says in a statement via the communications department that they welcome new innovation in the housing market.
– We think it is good for the brokers and home buyers, he says.
He says it will be exciting to see what the top brokers launch.
– At the same time, we still welcome all brokerage customers to use Finn, whether they run a competing marketplace or not, says Hellestveit.
Finn.no is owned by Schibsted. E24 is a subsidiary of the Schibsted group. Some of E24’s journalists have shares in Schibsted, through participation in the group’s share savings programme.
