Bombs Attack Amsterdam South: NS Closes ATMs at Stations

Bombs attacked Amsterdam South

NOS news

In case of explosive attacks, the NS temporarily closes a large number of ATMs at stations. As a result, cash can only be withdrawn at Amsterdam Central Station, Rotterdam Central Station, The Hague Central Station and Utrecht Central Station.

The reason for the decision is recent explosions at Amsterdam Zuid and Delft train stations. According to the transport company, they caused so much damage that they, together with GWK Travelex, who owned the machines, decided to temporarily close 24 ATMs.

It is not clear if and when these 24 ATMs will be used again. “These devices have now been closed and evacuated. Later, NS and GWK Travelex will decide whether devices can be reopened, possibly with additional safety measures,” said the railway company. “Consider roller shutters for the vending machine that close at night or additional camera surveillance.”

The NS has been in trouble for some time now. Three years ago, 28 vending machines were also temporarily closed. This was the result of an explosive burglary at Apeldoorn station. These vending machines were relocated last year, reopened with additional safety measures or closed permanently.
