“In response to the cessation of oil transportation through the Druzhba pipeline, the Defense Council met for 8pm,” the report said.
Kovacs also notes that the Defense Council was also convened due to “a missile attack on the territory of Poland”.
Separately reportedthat Hungarian Defense Minister Krysztof Szalai-Bobrovnicki held telephone conversations with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
The Druzhba pipeline provides oil supplies to Belarusian refineries and its transit to Europe. The pipeline originates in the Samara region, passes through Bryansk and further branches into two sections – northern and southern, passes through Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania.
The operator of the Polish section of the pipe, PERN (“PERN”), operates a network of pipelines with a length of 2.6 thousand km, including the Polish section of “Druzhby”, delivering oil to two refineries in Poland – in Plock (“Orlen”) and Gdansk (“Lotus”), as well as two refineries in Germany – in the Schwedt and Spergau areas.
