Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Attacker Indonesian National Team U-23, Taufik Hidayat, raised the problem that must be addressed in the second match against Australia in the continuation Asian Cup U-23 qualifier.
Taufik, who broke into the Australian goal in the 84th minute and reduced the U-23 national team lag to 2-3, considered that Garuda Muda’s defeat to Olyroos could not be separated from mistakes within the team.
As a player on the front lines, Taufik feels he has homework to complete.
“Our results are certainly disappointed because we lost. Moreover, earlier we also got a number of moments and opportunities to score goals. In the second match later we have to work even harder to get a win and qualify for the 2022 U-23 Asian Cup,” explained Taufik.
The player from Persija Jakarta also highlighted a number of problems when competing against Trevor Morgan’s team, including non-technical matters.
“We will improve communication, game transitions and confidence. Now we understand how the Australian game is. The chance of qualifying is still there, we will work even harder in the second leg. In addition, asking for prayers from the Indonesian people so that we can win at least by two goals difference,” said Taufik.
The U-23 Indonesian national team will meet again with Australia in the second leg which will take place at the Republican Central Stadium, Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Friday (29/10) night.
After losing 2-3 in the first leg, Shin Tae Yong’s squad still has a chance to advance to the U-23 Asian Cup finals if they win by a two-goal margin.
If only won by a difference of one goal, then a penalty shoot-out will be conducted to determine the odds.
Without a win in the second leg, the U-23 Indonesian National Team will not get a ticket to the U-23 Asian Cup final which will take place in Uzbekistan in June next year.
