Bombay Skipper Hardik Pandya Booed at Wankhede Stadium, Fans Divided Over Rohit Sharma’s Gesture

Mumbai: Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya was booed by the crowd when he entered the Wankhede Stadium for the first home match of the season, and a section of fans dismissed reports that former skipper Rohit Sharma was blocked. While fielding near the boundary line, Rohit looked at the crowd and asked them to stop chanting.

But other fans say that the former skipper told those who raised Rohit’s chant while standing on the boundary line not to do it. They say that even Rohit did it with no mind. During the 2019 ODI World Cup held in England, when the crowd in England booed the Australian player Steve Smith due to the ball tampering controversy, it was Virat Kohli who was the Indian captain who stopped them and asked them to clap for Smith. Smith later said he was grateful to Kohli for that.

Kohli didn’t want Smith’s honor that day by stopping those who shouted; Will Rohit ban Hardik if he shouts at Wankhede today?

Hardik Pandya fans also expected such a moment when Rohit arrived in Mumbai yesterday
Apparently no such thing was asked for. When he came out for the toss yesterday, host Sanjay Manjrekar asked Hardik to clap and show some courtesy. But even that was greeted with cheers by the fans. Hardik used to laugh at those who cried. Later, when Mumbai went into bat, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a golden duck in the very first over and Wankhede was left speechless.
