NEW YORK – A bomb threat at a New York school has temporarily suspended operations at the polling site, according to police and election officials.
Poll workers and early voters were evacuated from East Harlem school around 12 noon until NYPD agents could provide “that there was no danger”.
“The NYPD has informed us of a bomb threat at 1573 Madison Ave, which is an early voting site. Immediate start of emergency protocols. Staff and a handful of voters were escorted to safety, ”Deputy Executive Director of the Electoral Council Vincent Ignizio wrote on Twitter.
The uniformed officers who responded to the school claimed our sister chain News 4 that a student called about a pipe bomb threat.
Around 1pm, everyone was able to go back to school after officials deemed it safe to resume normal operations.
