TIMISOARA. Alert, Sunday evening, at Iulius Mall Timisoara, after a bomb threat.
A person called the emergency number 112 and announced that an explosive device had been placed inside the commercial complex. Firemen, policemen, pyrotechnicians and SRI workers, as well as SMURD crews intervened on the spot.
From the first information, it seems that the call was made by a 16-year-old boy, the same one who, during the last year, called several times to announce that bombs had been placed in the mall, in the Bega store, in several high schools in the city and even at the Roman Catholic Bishopric. The boy is known to suffer from mental disorders and has been fined in the past for false calls. During the past year, he was admitted to the Child Neuropsychiatry Clinic.
However, law enforcement is still investigating.
UPDATE: The law enforcement officers decided not to evacuate the mall, considering that the person who made the call was identified. It is the 7th time that the boy called to announce the placement of a bomb in a building in Timisoara. And this time he will be fined. The boy comes from a broken family and is in the care of a grandmother.
„Today, March 12, 2023, at around 6:11 p.m., the Timisoara police were notified by calling 112 about the fact that there was a bomb at the commercial complex in Piata Consiliul Europei in Timisoara.
The policemen of Section 4, the pyrotechnic group from SAS Timis and the firemen went to the scene.
The number that was called appears in the history with several notifications regarding threats with explosive materials, a fact for which the police officers carry out checks to establish the veracity of those notified and in order to identify and track down the person who made the call“, send IPJ Timis representatives.
