FAJAR.CO.ID, SURABAYA — A loud explosion was heard around Jalan Gresikan, Surabaya, East Java at around 10.19 WIB, Monday (4/3/2024).
The exact location where the explosion was heard was at the East Java Police Mobile Brigade Unit Headquarters, Jalan Raya Gresik Number 39.
East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugiharto said the explosion in the Jalan Gresikan area of Surabaya was a low explosive bomb. He asked the public not to worry too much.
“For the explosion in the Gresikan area of Surabaya, I confirmed the type of bomb was low explosive. “So, people don’t need to worry,” said Imam to the media crew when met at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters, Surabaya.
The bomb came from the remains of war-era explosives that the Gegana team would destroy.
Imam revealed that, coincidentally, currently his party does not have a warehouse with ideal standards regarding bomb storage.
“So, the remains of the explosives stored next to the Gegana office exploded this morning, there were no casualties,” said Imam.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Kombespol Dirmanto, confirmed that there was a bomb explosion at the police headquarters. He said that currently the team is on guard.
“Yes (it’s true there was an explosion),” said Dirmanto as quoted by JawaPos.com.
