A bomb exploded near a Roman Catholic cathedral on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. At least fourteen people were injured. Police say someone blown up at an entrance to the cathedral when it was stopped by security guards. Responsibility for the attack has not yet been claimed.
Human remains have been found at the site of the attack. Possibly those of those who committed the attack.
In the cathedral in the city of Makassar, worshipers were gathered for the celebration of Palm Sunday. Mass was almost over when there was a loud explosion. According to a priest, two people had got off on a motorbike near the church who wanted to enter. Security thought that was suspicious and did not want to let them in. Then one of them blew himself up. It seems that no one in the church has been hurt.
