Bomb Alert at Gambetta School in Arras: Evacuation and Bomb Squad in Action

The ‘Gambetta’ middle and high school in Arras, northern France, where a French teacher, Dominique Bernard, was killed on Friday morning, was evacuated shortly after 10am due to a bomb alert.
Bomb squads are on site carrying out checks on the presence of explosives but also searches of bags and backpacks of adults and students present. According to BFM TV, the alert was triggered due to a threat that appeared on the chat on the local police station’s website, where citizens can consult the procedures to follow and the cases in which to contact the various police and gendarmerie services.
About a hundred people, including students and staff, have been evacuated, local radio France Bleu Nord reports. Everything is taking place in a situation of relative calm, while the psychological support cell for students which became operational after Friday’s attack remains operational in this case too.
