Among the most anticipated appointments are Alberto Otárola as Defense Minister, César Augusto Cervantes Cárdenas (Interior), Alex Contreras (Economy and Finance) or Ana Cecilia Gervasi Díaz (Foreign).
Shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Boluarte delivered a televised message in which he stated that the “essential line” of his government would be “the consolidation of democracy, the rule of law, the balance of power and governance in the country”. he assured that he had “worked hard to form a ministerial cabinet for democratic unity and consolidation that is up to what the country requires”.
Regarding the protests taking place in some regions of the country, including Lima, the new president made “a fraternal appeal for calm, tranquility and social peace. Let us avoid conflicts that put our Peruvian brotherhood at risk. I am attentive to social needs and I reach out to meet the right needs”.
