The Brazilian newspaper O’Globo published this Thursday (September 30) leaks of private messages sent by the president Jair Bolsonaro through WhatsApp and in which they glimpse praise for the Chilean dictator Pinochet, criticism of the anticovid vaccination and homophobic mockery.
In a message sent a week ago, Bolsonaro mentions that his country will face a “worrying fate” if the left returns to power, referring to polls that show a clear favoritism for former socialist president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro sent his contacts a video with the inscription: “Lula has corrupted himself to lie to the world that China is an example”.

The video, divided into two, shows the leader of the Workers’ Party (PT) stating that the Asian giant is “An example of development for the world” and, at the same time, to dead dogs that are sold as food, as well as a child beaten by an alleged teacher inside the classroom.
In another conversation, the president and former Army captain shared with his relatives a video of the late Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, whom he admires, saying: “When Chileans see what communism is, when they understand the tricks, the deception, they will realize that this government is right.”

“This was never a dictatorship, gentlemen. This is a soft dictatorship (soft dictatorship). But, if necessary, we will have to shake hands, because first we have to save the country and then we will look back, “said Bolsonaro, who accompanied the video with an inscription that says” forward “and adds: “Pinochet / Chile / 1982, Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, B … (?)”.
According to the messages that the journalist Paulo Cappelli had access, the Brazilian president commented that the Pfizer-BioNTech anticovid vaccine, distributed by the federal government, is killing young people after a radio journalist referred to five cases of adolescents who died recently (although two of those deaths cited are of people who had not been vaccinated).

“Youth dying with Pfizer”, wrote Bolsonaro, who was infected with coronavirus in 2020 and did not want to be vaccinated. “Risks – it is necessary to investigate! Young people are dying of cardiac arrest”, and attached a video in which also appears the legend “Bolsonaro is right”.
Messages sent from the same number also include homophobic jokes. On Monday, for example, he mocked himself by sharing content that shows people who are apparently protesting for the rights of the LGBT community burning a Brazilian flag.
A day before, Bolsonaro had sent a video in which the musician Rogério Skylab said that he had homosexual relations without considering himself gay. “I’ve already done it three times, but I’m straight,” said the artist and the president commented: “Up to three times you can.”
