MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Bologna no longer intends to stop. Thiago Motta’s rossoblù win San Siro: against Inter it ends 2-1 after extra time, the goals from Beukema and Ndoye are decisive and take the Bolognese to the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup. The Nerazzurri, after winning two consecutive trophies, exit in the round of 16, in the next round Zirkzee and his teammates will challenge Fiorentina.
Massive turnover for Simone Inzaghi, Lautaro Martinez on the pitch flanked by Arnautovic, space in defense for Bisseck, Acerbi and Bastoni, Asllani instead takes control in place of Calhanoglu. Changes also for Thiago Motta, with Van Hooijdonk at the center of the attack and Zirkzee on the bench. The Nerazzurri started with a good rhythm, the first real chance was created by Asllani himself, but the former Empoli player’s shot ended high over the crossbar. A few minutes later Fabbian risked scoring the goal of the year with a volleyed backheel aimed at the corner, but the ball went just wide. After Frattesi’s first-choice conclusion, which came in at the right time following Carlos Augusto’s suggestion, the pace of the match slowed down considerably, with the two teams waiting until the final whistle. The hosts accelerated in the second half: in the 8th minute Arnautovic, at the height of the spot, kicked towards the back, the Austrian immediately after tried a shot which was deflected into a corner kick by the rossoblù defence. The best opportunity instead happened to Lautaro Martinez, but the Argentine had his penalty saved in the 20th minute by Ravaglia (penalty awarded after the On Field Review by La Penna). Carlos Augusto headed the score from a corner in the 2nd minute of the first half of extra time to break the deadlock: Bologna tried to react, but Thiago Motta’s team struggled to find the space needed to do damage to the Nerazzurri. In the second extra time, however, everything was reversed: Zirkzee, in the 7th minute, kept the equalizing ball put into the goal by Beukema with his heel, then the Dutchman served Ndoye, who with the scavetto passed Audero for the triumph of a Bologna that never ceases to amaze.
