Bolloré Logistics invests in Alsace in a pharmaceutical warehouse

Ten thousand square meters, spread over an area of 2.6 hectares. From January 2022, this will be the surface of the largest pharmaceutical warehouse created by Bolloré Logistics. Located on the Strasbourg Airport business park, in Entzheim (Bas-Rhin), it must meet the growing needs of a logistician’s customer.

“A long-term commitment with this client allows us to invest in a warehouse that is almost ad hoc in relation to its needs”, explains Philippe Cardoso, administrative and financial director for Europe. Or the need for new storage spaces and facilities to export outside Europe, following the addition of new production lines.

Two temperature-controlled cells

Airport infrastructures, like other companies (packing, preparation of pallets, etc.) and customs located in the business park will be called upon to make these flows more fluid.

The warehouse will have two temperature-controlled cells, at + 2 ° / + 8 ° C and at + 15 ° / + 25 ° C. All its security features and circuits will be doubled. All for an investment of around 15 million euros without any subsidy.

Pooling of storage and shipping

“The site allows us future extensions to cope with the growth of our client and of this industry in France, particularly in Alsace”, specifies Fabrice Dalla Muta, Supply Chain Director for Europe at Bolloré.

He also notes that pooling the storage and shipping of goods in Entzheim will avoid the creation of an additional site and the flow of trucks depending on it.

Renaud Paubelle, Chairman of the Management Board of Strasbourg Airport sees this project as an opportunity to accelerate the real estate and land development of the platform, which still has 45 hectares of available land and on which 1,200 people work. But also to participate in the strategic evolutions of the airport in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic: passenger traffic is at half mast with a drop of 60.6% in 2020 while freight has increased by 55% per year. compared to 2019, reaching 30,000 tonnes.
