Bolivia wins away against Chile – CONMEBOL

  • Bolivia achieved its first away victory against Chile in the Qualifiers.

La Verde achieved an important away victory against Chile (2-1), at the Julio Martinez Prádanos Stadium on Matchday 8 of the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Bolivia ended a 31-year drought without a visiting win thanks to two quick counterattacks that were finished off by forwards Carmelo Algarañaz and Miguel Terceros in the 13th minute and 45+1′, thanks to two passes from winger Roberto Fernández.

Forward Eduardo Vargas equalized in the 39th minute, but was unable to overcome another defeat for La Roja, which is unable to lift its head.

Chile came out strong in the second half, but as the minutes passed they began to get desperate. Bolivia dedicated itself to protecting the victory and managed to reach the play-off zone in seventh place, with nine points.
