Bolivia they officially filed a declaration of intervention at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to join the genocide case committed by Israel for committing murder in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. Bolivia submitted itself according to the rules of the International Court of Justice.
“Yesterday, Bolivia, referring to Article 63 of the Statute of the Court, submitted to the Registrar of the Court a Declaration of intervention in the case related to the Application of the Convention on Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in Gaza. Strip (South Africa v. Israel),” the ICJ said in a statement as reported by Anadolu Agency, Wednesday (9/10/2024).
According to Article 63 of the Statute of the ICJ, all states that are parties to a treaty have the right to intervene in processes related to the construction of that treaty. This step by Bolivia means that the interpretation given by the Court in its decision will be binding on Bolivia as well.

In its declaration, Bolivia indicated its interest in interpreting various provisions of the Genocide Convention, including Articles I, II, III, IV, V, VI, and IX. These articles discuss important issues such as defining genocide, the duty to prevent and punish such crimes, and the ICJ’s jurisdiction over disputes related to the treaty.
Israel, ignoring a UN Security Council resolution for an immediate ceasefire, has continued its brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip. More than 42,000 people have died in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
Most of them are women and children. The Israeli attacks, which they said were in response to Hamas, also left more than 97,700 people injured.
Israel’s offensive has displaced almost the entire population of the region amid a continuing blockade that has resulted in shortages of food, clean water and medicine.
