The disease presents an increasing trend in Bolivia, after exceeding a thousand confirmed cases a day a week ago and now with this new daily record.

The most affected areas are mainly those located at a lower altitude, in the valleys and the Amazon, the EFE agency said.

The Department of Santa Cruz concentrates more than half of the cases, with 17,455 and 396 deaths among its more than three million inhabitants.

“Given the increase in community contagion and the increase in positive cases,” the de facto government of Jeanine Áñez extended throughout the month of July the quarantine that began in March, which is now in what it calls a “conditioned and dynamic” phase, with restrictions that can be relaxed or tightened depending on how infections develop.

The restrictions maintain the closure of borders and airspace, the suspension of face-to-face classes at all educational levels and the prohibition of public events, that is, any meeting that involves a crowd of people.

In addition, it establishes hours and days for the movement of people and vehicles, except for essential services such as those of citizen security, emergencies and health services.

Bolivia has declared a state of sanitary emergency, with reports of collapsed health centers and some deaths at hospital doors and on the streets.

Alerts for the collapse in health centers occur in several cities, with cases of patients who make the pilgrimage through hospitals to find care and relatives with problems to bury their deceased, even if it is in an emergency grave dug in a cemetery that could embrace.
