Bolivia | Authorities detained man who planned to auction a teenage girl on social media

The authorities of Bolivia reported this Friday on the arrest of a man who contacted a teenage girl through Facebook with the intention of auctioning her through that social network.

Through a statement, the Director General of the Fight against Trafficking and Trafficking in Persons of the Ministry of Government, Jose Luis Alarcon, this person used three fake profiles on Facebook to “capture the teenager.”

“One profile was of an alleged victim who calls the victim to tell him to do things as requested; a second, to become your friend, and the other profile, who would be the buyer“said Alarcón, who added that the three profiles were used to” induce and capture the victim. “

They specified that the subject was discovered and referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for prosecution, while no further details of the case were provided as the victim was a minor.

In the document, Alarcón urged teenagers to avoid uploading photographs with “little clothes” to social networks because, according to what he said, this draws the attention of cybercriminals who try to attract them with well-paid job offers, the note says.

These subjects make their victims fall in love, they manipulate them and when they “realize it, it is too late,” added the official. Too asked parents to have fluid communication with their children so that they avoid exposing themselves to the dangers of making friends with strangers on internet platforms.

“We have to be very careful to use social networks, because there are people who use photographs to make them available to other people as if they were put up for auction,” added the CEO.
