“Today in Brasilia we met the new president of #Brazil, brother @LulaOficial, with whom we decided to delve into a broad work agenda for the benefit of our peoples, which includes border issues, gas, electricity, urea, investment and trade,” Arce wrote on his Twitter account.
Lula, for his part, reported on that social network that during the approximately 45-minute meeting, he evaluated with the president of the Andean-Amazonian nation how to increase cooperation in social, energy and fertilizer supply policies.
In statements to the state channel Bolivia TV, the head of the Plurinational State explained that both countries are interested in the export of Bolivian gas and the review of contracts, the sale of urea, potash and electricity.
Regarding the latter issue, the altiplano country has been coordinating with the neighboring nation since 2021 the project called Binational Hydroelectric Inventory Studies of the Madeira River and its main tributaries, with the aim of exploiting the energy potential of these rainwater areas.
Sources in the Bolivian Foreign Ministry commented that both sides are finalizing agreements in the fields of agriculture, industry, border security and the development of the binational corridor, a path that will facilitate the exit of Bolivian products to the markets of the Pacific quickly and efficiently.
Another promising prospect for bilateral trade relations offers cooperation in agriculture and livestock.
“We have many problems in common,” Arce told Bolivia TV channel.
During his stay in Brasilia, the president held a meeting with a representation of compatriots residing in that country, who number more than 500,000.
