Bolivia Administers Over 16 Million Covid Vaccines, Achieves 76.2% Coverage in First Dose

President Luis Arce reported this Monday that within the framework of the National Plan to Fight the Pandemic, to date, more than 16 million anti-Covid vaccines have been administered in the country and coverage in the first dose reaches 76.2%.

“With our National Plan to Fight the Covid-19 Pandemic, to date we have applied more than 16 million free vaccines, achieving 76.2% coverage in the first dose and 65.8% in the second in people over 18 years,” the Head of State published on his social networks.

The president published this information after carrying out an evaluation of everything advanced in favor of the Bolivian people “just days before closing 2023 and starting 2024 full of challenges and goals to meet.”

In addition, 6.4 million PCR and nasal antigen tests were carried out. Likewise, 151 health brigades throughout the national territory provided timely treatment, delivered medications and referred necessary cases to health establishments.

“This is how we managed to reduce the mortality rate from Covid-19 from 76 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants in the first wave, to 1 per 100 thousand inhabitants in the sixth wave,” emphasized the government authority.

The President affirmed that the “work does not stop” and the national government will continue working to guarantee the Bolivian population the necessary doses of vaccines and the strengthening of health centers with the infrastructure and equipment necessary for the prevention and treatment of this and other types of diseases.

“The health and life of Bolivians is our priority,” Arce stressed.
