The quarterfinals of the hockey extra league are still in a flash. Mladá Boleslav won the series over Pardubice 4: 0, when in the last race she turned the score from 0: 3 to 5: 3. The White Tigers of Liberec overcame Hradec in the same way, when they won 3: 1 in the fourth race thanks to glued goals from the third period.
Boleslav celebrates advancing to the semifinals for the second time in club history. She repeated the success of 2016.
Dynamo led 3: 0 thanks to goals by Patrik Poulíček, Radislav Tybor and Anthony Camara in the 21st minute. However, Joona Jääskeläinen quickly reduced the number of guests and Pavel Kousal, defender Petr Šidlík and Jakub Kotala turned the result in the third period. The fifth goal in this year’s playoffs decided the winner in the power play at 50:58. Jan Stránský sealed the result 11 seconds before the end during the power play in an empty goal.
In the beginning, the guests did not use two power games. Exactly two minutes later, the defender Hrádek went to shout, who fouled Ciencialy’s chance with a foul. Further weakening caused Dynamo Camar to trip in the attacking zone, but the home team defended themselves and struck themselves in the 7th minute. Blümel found Poulíček in front of the goal, who overcame Růžička.
Pardubice, which started without the defender Ďalogy, also increased the lead in just 45 seconds. Tybor pushed from the left side in front of the Mladá Boleslav goalkeeper and overcame him among the concrete with a backhand end. Šidlík tried to answer, but Klouček was there. Růžička retained Central Bohemia at Kusý’s chance and then, even when Stránský was expelled, he liquidated Paulovič’s possibility. Mladá Boleslav did not prevail during Mikuš’s expulsion and the locals did not use the numerical advantage during Najman’s punishment. Kotala was not surprised by Klouček from behind the goal and before the second break he could raise Kosticyn.
In the 47th minute, Pavel Kousal curled into an escape and Kloučka enjoyed a bluff into the forehand. In 78 seconds, through the screen in front of the Pardubice goalkeeper, the defender Šidlík headed from the right circle exactly to the opposite pole and Dynamo’s lead vanished.
The guests were in good taste and Klouček had to cover Pavel Kousal’s experiment. On the other hand, Kosticyn had an exposed goal, but he failed after Kolář’s pass. In the 51st minute, with Camar’s dismissal, Ševc’s Kotala completed a turnaround. The judges also confirmed the situation with the video. Kotala scored for the fifth time in the last three matches.
Dynamo failed to answer. Poulíček did not reach the puck in front of the open goal, Robert Kousal did not succeed and Mladá Boleslav defended himself even during Jääskeläinen’s exclusion. On the other hand, Stránský arranged the insurance after Strnad’s pass into the empty goal.
Quick turn of Liberec
The Hradec Králové team, led by coach Vladimír Růžička, led at home from the middle of the first period thanks to the goal of Petr Koukal, but the White Tigers scored with three goals in the final ten minutes. In the 51st minute, Dávid Gríger equalized, only 21 seconds later Petr Jelínek arranged the advance. In the end, Michal Bulíř secured the win for an empty goal.
The North Bohemians advanced to the top four for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Only once did Liberec fail – three years ago, after a 3: 4 defeat to the matches with the Mountfield team.
The home team entered the fight for hope without Captain Smoleňák, who watched the events on the ice only from the stands. The North Bohemians started with great taste and clearly visible determination, which was reflected in their shooting superiority in the first act. They won 12: 6 for accurate attempts between the sticks.
After threatening Orsava, he had the opportunity to finish Vlach before the middle of the first period in his 400th extra-league start in a close-up career, but he did not beat Mazance. On the contrary, it struck on the other side. Veselý did only hit the right post behind Kváč’s back, but on the goal area, the emphatic Koukal cut off the bulletproof goal of the Liberec goalkeeper after 178 minutes and 12 seconds.
A moment later, Zachar stepped on it, and it wasn’t long before he stepped up. Liberec then did not use the power play and was lucky after a break in the 19th minute, on the contrary, Musil failed to beat Kváča in the last seconds.
In the second period, the guests took over the activity. Birner fired in a power play, Mazanec was ready, Najman narrowly missed at the end. Before the middle of the match, the East Bohemians played for almost a minute five to three, but they did not insure the lead.
Kelly Klíma already finished well in the classic power play, but failed, Kolmann and Knot blocked Jergl, who would easily knock into an empty goal. The lion then missed the bomb after renumbering three to two. Before the break, Musil was threatening again.
At the end of the 43rd minute, Blain finished from an ideal position between the circles, but the joy of increasing his lead was taken away by an excellent intervention by Kváč. A moment later, the home team was twice renumbered two to one in a few seconds, but not once were they able to prepare a position for the end. In the 49th minute, Kváča excelled against Jergl.
The alignment came like a bolt from the blue, after the Grigger, who had been blocked in a circle after the throw-in, managed to redirect Rosandic’s attempt from the blue line. Immediately Zachar lost his puck in his own defensive zone in a duel with Vlach, who kicked him at Jelínek, who played with Mazance.
The home team worked hard, but they could no longer dramatize the series. In the last minute, Jergl stretched in front of Mazance during the game without a goalkeeper, but he did not give, and Bulíř sealed the procedure on the other side.
