BOLA – UEFA sets deadline for Sporting and FC Porto to pay debts (Football)

UEFA, through a statement, made it known this Friday that Sporting and FC Porto must provide proof of payment of their debts by January 31, 2022. Otherwise, the two clubs risk being left out of European competitions during the next few three seasons.

According to the statement, FC Porto was also fined 300 thousand euros, while Sporting will also have to pay 250 thousand euros. “The clubs have been sanctioned with a mandatory financial contribution and additionally a conditional exclusion from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which they qualify in the next three (3) seasons (ie 2022/23, 2023/24 and 2024/25), unless they are able to prove by January 31, 2022 that they have paid their arrears”, read in UEFA press release.

Santa Clara also appears on the list, with a fine of 75 thousand euros. Complete the list of debtors Astana (Kazakhstan), Cluj (Romania), CSKA Sofia (Bulgaria), Betis (Spain) and Mons Calpe (Gibraltar).
