UEFA and the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) opened a joint office in London this Monday, whose foundation is to organize football events and cooperate in areas such as refereeing and training.
«We are the two continents with the greatest tradition and prestige in the most popular sport on the planet. On the field, we are loyal rivals, but the understanding that football is a powerful force for tolerant, peaceful and pluralistic societies unites us”, said Alejandro Domínguez, president of CONMEBOL.
Aleksander Ceferin, UEFA president, insisted that the relationship between the governing bodies of European and South American football was “easy to build”, as “they share the same love and passion for football.
