The Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD) annulled the 21-day suspension imposed on Pinto da Costa by the Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation following criticism of the arbitration after the game between SC Braga and FC Porto, held on 10 February. 2021, for the Portuguese Cup.
After that game, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Pinto da Costa rebelled against the referee, launching: «This is not the way it has been accumulating in these last games in relation to the referees with Futebol Clube do Porto that will bend.”
The Porto president would be sentenced in July 2021 to a 21-day suspension and payment of a fine of 612 euros, sanctions now annulled by the TAD.
