The Andalusian Superior Court of Justice ordered Granada to pay 200,000 euros to Guilherme Siqueira, in debt since 2013, agreed upon when the Brazilian side was loaned to Benfica.
According to news agency EFE, the left-back should have received the amount by way of compensation for the transfer to the club of Luz in the 2013/2014 season, in which he would become champion with the eagles and win the Portuguese Cup.
The loan to Benfica provided for compensation, agreed between the player and the president of Granada, Enrique Pena, despite the defender having disengaged from the Spanish emblem in July 2014, when he was transferred to Atlético de Madrid.
EFE mentions that, in the unlinking with Granada, Guilherme Siqueira signed a document, registered in the Spanish league, in which he acknowledged that the payments had been settled, “with the exception of 240,000 euros net, as compensation.”
The Brazilian filed a complaint with the Spanish Players Union, withdrawing it after the club submitted a payment plan, with which he only handed over the first 20,000 euros.
In October 2016, Granada expressed total ignorance in relation to the document and the debt, arguing that the new structure could not validate this contract, a situation now contradicted by the Superior Court, ordering the club to pay 200 thousand euros to the former footballer.
Siqueira, 34, has been sidelined since 2016/2017, when he was on loan at Valencia on loan from Atlético Madrid.
