BOLA – SAD obliged to pay Nilton Varela to Belenenses (Belenenses SAD)

The Administration led by Rui Pedro Soares saw the ruling of the Arbitration Commission (CA) of the Portuguese Football Federation confirmed by the Constitutional Court, which obliges it to pay 30,797.26 euros to Clube de Futebol Os Belenenses for the training rights of Nilton Varela, who played at the Restelo club between 2012 and 2019, the year he moved to Belenenses SAD.

The Azules do Jamor appealed to the CA, invoking, in addition to the «no obligation to pay training rights by a sports company to its founding club», the unconstitutionality of compensation for training. As the appeal was not accepted, SAD complained to the Constitutional Court, which was not accepted. According to the judges of Ratton Palace, the CA did not “show itself to be obliged to know alleged unconstitutional [«declarou-se, aliás, materialmente incompetente para as conhecer e conheceu o litígio ao abrigo da norma legal e das normas regulamentares»]», also understanding that all instances of appeal are not exhausted, namely that of annulment of the arbitration decision.

In this way, the Administration led by Rui Pedro Soares now has to settle this debt by April 10, otherwise it will be prevented from registering players.
