BOLA – France gains strength for the Paris Olympic Games (Basketball)

Born in Cameroon, Joel Embiid gained French nationality this Friday. The Philadelphia 76ers’ 28-year-old pole thus becomes an important reinforcement for the blueahead of the 2024 Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris.

Top scorer in the last season in the NBA (average of 30.6 points), Embid is another weapon to add to a team that already includes names like Rudy Gobert (Minnesota Timberwolves), Evan Fournier (New York Knicks), Luwawu-Cabarrot (Atlanta Hawks), Vincent Poirer and Guerschon Yabusele (both from Real Madrid) who won the silver medal in Tokyo.

One of the powerhouses of international basketball, France (European champions in 2013 and third place three times at the World Cup) has never won a gold medal. The most the Gauls achieved were three silver medals in London (1948), Sydney (2000) and Tokyo (2020).
