BOLA – FPF will appeal the decision on the Marega case (Vitória de Guimarães)

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD) annulled and revoked the decision of the Disciplinary Council (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), dated 20 October last year, which had sentenced Vitória de Guimarães to the penalty of three matches to closed door and the payment of a fine in the amount of 53,550 euros.

At issue, the practice of racist acts, carried out by supporters of the Minho emblem, during the game against FC Porto, played at D. Afonso Henriques on February 16, 2020, targeting Moussa Marega, then forward of the blues and whites.

The Victorian team came to comply with the disciplinary sanction now revoked in the last two games last season and in the first of the current season, all, however, under a pandemic regime, with the public still unable to access the stadiums. This punishment is now credited for later expiration.

Meanwhile, the FPF, as far as we have learned, will appeal the TAD’s decision to the Central Administrative Court.
