In a game of the 5th round of Group A of the 2nd phase of the Betclic League where the quality of the basketball played left a lot to be desired, even after the break (23-23) – the 13th anniversary of Dragão Arena deserved more than both sets -, FC Porto beat Benfica by 65-60 (12-15, 11-8, 19-18, 23-19), interrupting the reds’ eight-game winning streak, the last four still counting for the early stage.
If the eagles had already guaranteed that they will reach the ‘play-off’ in 1st place and therefore are entitled to the home factor throughout the ‘play-off’, in the case of the dragons the emotion grows, as Sporting took the best against Oliveirense by 69-67, is to be decided for next week, in the last day with an FC Porto-Sporting, who will occupy the 2nd place in the ‘play-off’ grid.
Charlon Kloof (15 pts, 4 res, 3 ass), Rashard Odones (12 pts, 4 res, 3 ass) and Francisco Amarante (10 pts, 4 res, 2 ass) were the only elements of the hosts to reach the dozen spots. Highlight that in Lisbon went to Frank Gaines (15) and Ivan Almeida (10 pts, 8 res).
