The Bulgarian Olympic Committee gathers for the 12th year in a row the best young talents in white sports in our country. The Winter Olympic Festival will take place this weekend, from March 8 to 10, entirely in one of the most modern and popular ski areas in Bulgaria and in the region – Pamporovo-Mechi chal nad Chepelare.
Traditionally, the forum includes competitions in snowboarding, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and biathlon, which are among the most successful and widely practiced Bulgarian snow sports over the years. Recently, these competitions have become national meetings of sorts for our youngest future stars in white sports.
In total, more than 450 children from all winter centers in the country are expected to participate in the Festival. The 30 cm of snow that fell yesterday provided a new snow cover and thus provided wonderful conditions for the future stars of Bulgaria in white sports.
Snowboarders will be the first to start along the “small wall” in the Yazovira area in Pamporovo. Their competitions are on Friday, March 8 at 8.30 a.m., the requests for participation so far are 103, the most numerous being from Borobord Samokov with 32 competitors, OUTIPI Samokov with 15, Moten Sofia with 13, etc. For snowboarders, 11, 13 and 15-year-olds meet.
The alpine downhills on the same track are the next day, on Saturday, with the participation of 116 competitors. Vitosha skis send the most skiers to the Rhodopes – 26, with big teams are Chamkoria with 19, Bansko with 17, etc.
Interesting for the requests of Trakia Plovdiv and Green Road, which suggest that white sports are expanding their geography among young people in our country.
However, it will be the most crowded with the biathletes, who will also broadcast the prize winners on Saturday, March 9. 159 young talents will compete in our most successful winter sport on the slopes and at the shooting complex next to the Reservoir. Ajax Troyan sends 27 players, Bansko 26, Sapareva Banya 22, Rila Skior 21, Triton Asenovgrad 19, Ihtiman Stambolovo 16, etc.
On all days the competitions start at 9.30am and the awards ceremony after 1.00pm. The organizers have provided many prizes and special prizes for the best of our young talents who will be honored and felicitated by some of our legendary winter sports champions.
