Freiburg (dpa/lsw) – The drinking water in parts of Freiburg-Kappel no longer has to be boiled. “The measures taken are having an effect,” said the supplier Badenova on Wednesday. Because of bacterial contamination, the drinking water network in the eastern district of Freiburg has been chlorinated since last Friday – the water could only be used after boiling.
According to the utility, chlorination is expected to be maintained until the beginning of next week until drinking water quality is restored. However, despite a possible slight taste and smell of chlorine, the drinking water can be drunk without restrictions and used in the household, it said.
