Someone may argue that listeriosis and salmonellosis should be feared if you buy chicken on the market – after all, antibiotics are actively used in modern production, which do not allow the bird to become infected. This is true, but it is worth remembering the downside – antibiotics accumulate in chicken, which by no means makes it healthier.
Antimicrobials adversely affect the intestinal microflora and can cause gastrointestinal upset in a person who consumes such meat. This may even lead to the fact that the bacteria inside our body acquire immunity to antibiotics, which will create difficulties in the future – in the treatment of infectious diseases.
Another harmful additive that is almost certainly present in store-bought chicken is hormones. They are used for enhanced growth, which is why the bird quickly gains weight. In addition, do not forget that many poultry farms organize waste-free production – that is, weak and possibly sick individuals are processed into bone meal and added to bird food.
