Böhse Onkelz and 01099: Hot concerts this open-air weekend

Dresden – It was the big double concert of the open-air season that is coming to an end this weekend: The Dresden rap trio 01099 performed on Friday in the sold-out area of the Film Nights on the ElbeThe Böhsen Onkelz rocked in front of around 70,000 fans on Fridays and Saturdays at the Rinne in Ostragehege. It was a kind of family reunion in both cases.

Gustav, Paul and Zachi, who named themselves after the postcode 01099 of their hometown of Neustadt, call their fans their family.

At their home game, they repeatedly invoked the feeling of togetherness: “You are our family,” was said again and again between the rapped hits, which are more soft pop than hard hip hop.

From “Dies & Das” to “Durstlöscher” the three of them zipped around the stage like rubber balls and welcomed their former supporter and now friend Ski Aggu for a guest appearance.

The parents, who accompanied many of the mostly young fans, also enjoyed it.

At the same time, the riffs of the Onkelz concert could be heard wafting into the Neustadt from afar. On Saturday, there was a hearty follow-up. “Dynamo, Dynamo, Dynamo,” echoes through the gutter early in the morning.

Not five meters away, three or four people from the Erzgebirge region greeted them with a greeting: “Derby winner, derby winner, hey, hey.” Evil looks, but then arms wide open. It could easily have been a fight at football, but not with the Böhsen Onkelz – “La Familia”.

Even men and women from Dresden and the Aue area are not mortal enemies. They dance, sing, pogo and celebrate together for two and a half hours – a brutal, rousing and sweaty party. The 37 degrees at the beginning burned into some people’s bodies.

The audience is mixed. It’s not just fans who have been loyal to the Onkelz for 44 years. The mid-fifties have practically passed on the music: teenagers are there with their mothers, fathers and even grandparents. “Three generations are united here,” said bassist Stephan Weidner happily. “It’s great that you’ve passed on your love.”

Onkelz play their classics

Musically, the four Frankfurters wandered through their band history, mixing old and new songs. Of course, all the popular hits like “Auf gute Freunde”, “Stunde des Siegers”, “So sind wir”, “Erinnerungen” and also “Mexico” were not missing.

“H” was the highlight, not in terms of mood, but in terms of feeling. In it, Kevin Russell sings about his drug addiction. He has been clean for 13 years, as he proudly announced. It was a cappella. Russell’s voice and Matthias “Gonzo” Röhr’s guitar. Goosebumps – for all the people of Dresden and the Erzgebirge.
