The Czech studio Bohemia Interactive draws attention to the misuse of the game Arma 3. Footage purporting to be from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is circulating on social media. But in reality they are from a well-known military simulation.
“It’s disheartening to see the game we all love being abused like this,” the studio said, thanking everyone who actively helps refute such videos on various social networks.
Footage from Army 3 is used by Hamas supporters. For example, a video of two downed helicopters is circulating on Twitter. Contribution states, that it is real footage of Israeli helicopters shot down by Hamas. Agency Reuters tracked down the video on YouTube, where it was uploaded days before Hamas’s brutal attack on Israel from Gaza. Record below.

Footage from Army 3 was previously passed off as videos from the war in Ukraine. At the time, the studio warned against creating fake news. At the same time, it published a list of tips by which it should be possible to distinguish real footage from recordings made in Arma 3. This list includes points such as low resolutionshaky camera, absence of sound and human figures in motion or an image that is too dark, i.e. attempts to hide imperfections and the fact that it is just footage from a video game.
