The District Education Secretary (SED) announced that six official schools in Bogotá will work in the inclusive education model called Triangular Project, applied in Uruguay.
The European Union recognized the strategy Articulators of Inclusion Project in the Territory of Uruguay as an innovative practice, as it seeks to contribute to the transition process towards inclusive and quality education at all levels of education.
“The training of teachers and managers within the framework of this agreement, without a doubt, will be fundamental to advance this purpose,” said the Secretary of Education (E), Carlos Alberto Reverón.
As part of the process, it was decided to develop a triangular cooperation project to export the strategy and adapt it to new contexts.. This is how the education secretaries of Tunja and Bogotá got involved to participate in this Education for All People project.
The initiative is part of the Uruguay – European Union (EU) Triangular Cooperation Fund for sustainable development, co-financed by the EU within the framework of the Adelante II Program, and implemented by the Uruguayan Agency for International Cooperation (AUCI) as a contribution to development sustainable and compliance with the 2030 Agenda, through Triangular Cooperation.
Virginia Torres, director of inclusion and integration of populations at the District Secretary of Education, explained that the Six educational institutions that will work on this topic were chosen because they have a large population of victims of the conflict.
“The topic that Bogotá has chosen to work with you is very important to continue advancing in what the city has done for inclusive education,” said the director.
Among the objectives of this joint strategy are to make diversity visible from the social model of inclusive education and educational justice and to strengthen and train educational teams from the perspective of diversity and human rights, to incorporate the paradigm of Inclusive Education.
Also, it is expected to generate accessible and inclusive educational environments and improve the strategies of the educational system.
“For us it is a pleasure to participate in this inclusive education project, which has been a matter of particular relevance in this administration,” said Secretary Reverón, who celebrated being able to learn from the significant experiences that Uruguay has had on this issue.
The implementation of the program will begin in February 2024, but the training and technical exchanges will begin in March 2024 in virtual mode, and will then be reinforced with a second mission in Colombia for training exchanges.
