The Bogotá Mayor’s Office began taking free samples this Saturday to detect cases of coronavirus in four neighborhoods that entered into strict quarantine due to the high number of infections, the city’s Health Secretariat reported.
The new special care areas include the Tibabuyes and El Rincón neighborhoods, in the town of Suba; Jerusalem, in Ciudad Bolívar; Engativá and Bosa Occidental, all with a high number of inhabitants.

The Ministry of Health explained in a statement that as of this date and until next Wednesday in these sectors, “it will carry out actions to increase the number of samples to populations at risk, as well as collective and individual prevention work with citizens.”
Sampling, which is free, is carried out in tents set up by the Bogotá City Hall, but in some cases the population does not go in the expected number, as happened in the Lucero Alto neighborhood, in the south of the capital.
At that point, an official called the population to perform the test, but people did not go to the tent, some claiming fear of being infected during the procedure by rumors circulating on social networks.
In addition to taking the samples, the Health Secretariat of Bogotá will also carry out epidemiological investigations in the neighborhoods in these neighborhoods and will verify the vaccination schedule for children and the elderly.

According to the Mayor’s order, in these special care areas the mobility of people and vehicles will be restricted. Only commercial establishments of basic necessities may open, and permits that have been granted to the construction, manufacturing and non-essential goods trade sectors are suspended.
Likewise, the people who live in these localities will only be able to leave between five in the morning and seven at night to get supplies, go to the doctor in an emergency, caregivers of children and adolescents, and people with disabilities.
