Bogor, VIVA – Police in Bogor resort have arrested drug trafficking criminals with a new trick they used to fool officers. These include hiding methamphetamine in spice preparations and selling illegal drugs in popular places. Police revealed the method after arresting 37 suspects in a drug case.

Bogor Deputy Police Chief, Police Commissioner Adhimas, said the Bogor Police Narcotics Investigation Unit managed to detect 29 cases related to drug trafficking. Specifically, 14 cases of crystal methamphetamine, 1 case of marijuana, 7 cases of synthetic tobacco and 7 cases of pharmaceutical preparations of hard drugs.
“37 suspects were arrested in connection with this case and physical evidence of 262.19 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 527 grams of marijuana, 237 grams of synthetic tobacco and 4,697 types of pharmaceuticals were confiscated,” Adximas said.

Police were almost fooled when they raided the residence of a drug suspect. Officers initially found no crystal methamphetamine during the raid. However, officers later found something suspicious, flavored with cooking spices. “We located it and it turned out to be crystal methamphetamine,” he said.
So, Adhimas said, the regime followed was a patchwork system, so officials remained suspicious and cash on delivery (COD) did not remain. In the case of drug trafficking, criminals carry out direct transactions and carry the system. The criminal carried the merchandise to other places with the help of his friends’ backpacks.
“First they tricked us into renting shops to distribute acute medicines, and then they switched to the delivery system, so they are mobile, they don’t stay in one place, they can move,” he said.
“On foot, he was using a shopping bag, so he went to busy areas used for recreation (gathering),” Adximas added.
Head of the Bogor Police Narcotics Division, AKP Nur Istiono, said there have been cases of illegal drug sales by deceiving officers by selling household items or credit counters.
“Well, now they have changed to a home delivery system. So it’s not permanent and maybe they have regular customers,” he said.
Istino explained that the 37 suspects arrested in October 2024 brought the number of drug offenders arrested since January to 265. The culprits were sentenced to 5 years in prison under various articles 111, 112, 114 and 5 years under articles 435 and 436 related to health.
