Bogor Health Office records 1,428 cases of dengue since January, 8 people have died

Jakarta

Municipal Health Office Bogor recorded that as many as 1,428 people have been infected with dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) since January 2022. Of the thousands who have been infected with DHF, as many as 8 have died.

“The number is correct (1,428 cases of DHF), which is cumulative data from January to November,” Bogor City Health Service Secretary Erna Nuraena told reporters on Friday (9/12/2022).

Erna said more than 100 people in Bogor City are infected with DHF every month. Erna said the majority of DHF patients were between the ages of 5 and 14.

“The average age of people infected with dengue fever in the Bogor City area is between 5 and 14 years old,” Erna said.

The highest distribution of DHF cases occurred in Katulampa village, East Bogor district with 92 cases, followed by Cikaret village, South Bogor district with 60 DHF cases and Mulyaharja village, South Bogor district with 50 cases of DHF.

“One of the reasons why the prevalence of dengue cases is still high in Bogor city is due to the lack of public awareness to take preventive measures for dengue transmission in Bogor city,” Erna said.

As an effort to reduce the spread of dengue fever, the Bogor City Health Bureau invites the public to participate in the control of the mosquito vector Aedes Aegypti.

“The health service also carries out fumigation or spraying activities using insecticides capable of killing only adult mosquitoes for areas registered as infected with dengue fever,” Erna said.

“DHF is still a health problem and a serious threat in several areas of Indonesia, especially during the rainy season,” he added.
