[시사일보=박태선 기자] Boeun County announced on the 15th that it will set a special quarantine period until the end of February next year to prepare for the winter season, when there is a high possibility of outbreaks of malignant livestock infectious diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease and highly pathogenic AI, and will do its best to preemptive biosecurity.
As viruses become activated due to lower temperatures in winter, the probability of foot-and-mouth disease outbreak is increasing, and the risk of recurrence of highly pathogenic AI is also increasing with the arrival of migratory bird influx. Since 2019, special attention has been paid to African swine fever outbreaks in pig farms within 4 weeks immediately after the Chuseok holiday every year. It is a time of need.
Accordingly, during the period of special quarantine measures, the county established and operated a quarantine countermeasures situation room to maintain a prompt reporting and reporting system in the event of a livestock infectious disease. At the same time, two vehicles owned by the county office, three vehicles from the joint epidemic prevention team of the livestock cooperatives, and one vehicle from the Boeun-gun branch of the Korean Beef Association were installed. A total of 6 units will be mobilized to strengthen quarantine management, including disinfecting the inside and outside of livestock farms and entrance roads to livestock farms, including small-scale breeding farms.
In order to promote efficient quarantine measures against foot-and-mouth disease, the military will first promote simultaneous vaccination of all cattle and goats in October, and provide guidance to farms vulnerable to quarantine (such as those purchasing vaccines and farms with low antibody positivity rates) through monitoring tests for the antibody positivity rate of foot-and-mouth disease vaccines after vaccination. ·We plan to strengthen inspections and conduct intensive management to block risk factors in advance. In addition, in order to prevent the introduction of the foot-and-mouth disease virus into the province, movement of cow and pig raw waste transporters (vehicles) outside the Chungcheongbuk-do area is prohibited.
In addition, to prevent AI during the winter, we completed a quarantine inspection of poultry farms in the county for four months starting from May this year, and ordered supplementation of facilities for one farm with insufficient facilities in accordance with the revision of the Animal Infectious Disease Prevention Act.
During this measure period, a dedicated control designated for each poultry farm will be operated, the detailed inspection cycle for poultry farms will be shortened (from once a quarter to once a month) to identify suspected infected livestock, and a prior reporting system before poultry stocking will continue to be operated. At the same time, we plan to control the entry and exit of vectors into the farm to prevent the possibility of highly pathogenic AI viruses entering the poultry farm.
To prevent the introduction of African swine fever into the county, we continue to operate 3+2 stage disinfection of vehicles entering and exiting pig farms, and encourage the control of entry of livestock vehicles into livestock barns and the operation of eight quarantine facilities within the farm. We are collaborating with the wild boar capture department to capture or Monitoring and inspection of dead wild boars is being strengthened.
In addition, thorough measures are taken to ensure that owners of livestock farms and livestock-related facilities are prohibited from entering the livestock farms by family members visiting their hometowns, and that foreign workers employed at livestock farms are not allowed to bring portable livestock products into the country after visiting their home countries. Management was requested.
Shin Jung-soo, head of the Livestock Division, said, “To prevent the occurrence of malignant livestock infectious diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease, highly pathogenic AI, and African swine fever, vehicles entering livestock-related facilities must be disinfected at a base disinfection station before entering and exiting with a certificate issued.” “Please work hard on biosecurity, including thorough vaccinations, regular disinfection, and controlling the access of outsiders and livestock vehicles,” he said.
