The five negotiating parties in Gelderland have reached a coalition agreement. These are the BoerBurgerBeweging, VVD, CDA, ChristenUnie and SGP.
This makes Gelderland, almost three months after the provincial elections, the second province where a new government can get to work. Yesterday, Limburg was the first to announce that an agreement has been reached.
Former minister Bijleveld led the formation talks in Gelderland. After the elections, in which BBB became by far the largest, it soon became apparent that a coalition ‘on the right’ would be the most obvious option.
The five parties that will form the Provincial Executive have 30 of the 55 seats in the Provincial Council. Details of the agreement have not yet been announced. It will be presented next Wednesday.
