More than 30,000 workers at the company’s factories on the west coast of the United States began their first strike in 16 years on September 13, rejecting the company’s proposals twice.
More than 26,000 union members, or about 80% of the total, cast their votes on the 4th, with 59% voting in favor.

The pay increases will increase Boeing’s labor costs by $1.1 billion over four years, according to Jefferies analysts. The union could also spend an additional $396 million on bonus payments of $12,000 per member.
