Boeing planned to redesign the 777 engine fairing before the recent failure-Wall Street Journal

According to an internal document from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Boeing Co. (BA) had a few serious accidents (including one near Denver last weekend). It plans to strengthen the engine fairing of the 777 aircraft in just a few months.

According to people familiar with the matter, the aircraft manufacturer and regulators have been discussing possible repair measures before, and the discussion has been even longer-about two years. The discussion began after two failures occurred in 2018, one of which occurred on a 777 aircraft operated by United Airlines Holdings Inc (UAL) and the other occurred on Southwest Airlines Co., LUV) on the 737 aircraft.
