Boeing reported this Tuesday the delivery of a total of 291 commercial aircraft during the first three quarters of the year, which represents a drop of 21.5% from 371 in the same period a year ago, while the American manufacturer continues to blame the strike that its workers are holding in Seattle.
Between January and September, The bulk of sales were concentrated in the 737 model, which accumulated 229 of the 291 deliveriesalthough it remained below the 286 registered in the first three quarters of 2023. Regarding the third quarter, sales of this aircraft amounted to 92, above the 70 of the previous year.
Besides, The company reported the delivery of 15 units of the 767 model, 11 of the 777 and another 36 of the 787, all of them below the records of the same period of the previous year.
However, The third quarter of 2024 has been more productive in sales than last yearsince the company delivered a total of 116 aircraft, up from 105 in 2023.
Beyond its commercial airplanes, Boeing delivered 76 aircraft from its defense, space and security programsof which 34 were concentrated in the third quarter of the year. The most popular model to date has been the AH-64 Apache, with 34 deliveries across all ranges so far this year and 18 in the quarter.
All this while the company continues to be involved in a strike by its workers, and Oxford Economics analysts point out that “Boeing is also furloughing tens of thousands of its staff in the United States.“The affected employees will take one week of leave every four weeks while the strike lasts,” they detail.
